J Walter Thompson has hired Tiraz Balaporia as vice president and executive business director. Balaporia joins from Havas Worldwide, where he was the senior vice president. At JWT, he will be based out of the Gurgaon office and will report to Babita Baruah, senior vice president and head at JWT North. The agency spokesperson refused to comment on the appointment, citing a stringent media policy.
Balaporia has spent a majority of his career at Havas Worldwide across its India office, with a stint at Bates141 (now Bates CHI&Partners) before returning to Havas. In the past, he has also worked with MAA Communications Bozell, Rhizic and Dubai-based Creativeline.
